The logo again featured a Giant’s Quarterback about to throw the football, but the style and color scheme was changed. In 1950, another design of the logo was approved, created by Marie Barclay Steinmuller. The Giants logo is oval and football-shaped. There are dark blue shadows below (on the silhouettes of skyscrapers). A white inscription “NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS” is encircling him. The quarterback in the uniform is standing on the yellow-orange background. He’s passing against the New York skyline, his right arm is throwing a pass, and his left arm is extended to the side. The New York Giants used an image of a giant quarterback during this period.

Mara “borrowed” the Giant’s name from the city’s Major League Baseball team of the same name because its owner Charles Stoneham had organized and promoted a professional football team called the New York Giants in 1919. The owner, Tim Mara, decided on Giants because his team would play at the Polo Grounds, the home of baseball’s New York Giants. From 2005 to the present, John Mara and Steve Tisch co-own the team. Since then, the franchise hasn’t been owned solely by the Mara family. Mara, who sold his stake to Bob Tisch for $80 million in 1991. They co-owned the team until 1964.įrom 1965 to 1990, the team was owned by Wellington and Tim J. Mara left the Giants to his sons, Jack and Wellington. The club’s first owner was Tim Mara he purchased the NFL franchise for New York at the cost of $500. The team plays its home games in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
